So the only good thing about this episode is the fact that the evil faction is presumed dead, I really hope the worm/tentacle creature killed all three of them.

Is there anyone who read the source material? I could really use some spoilers or things to look forward to, because I'm losing motivation to watch this show right now.

This was episode 5/53 and nothing has been explained yet. So far it has been just 5 episodes of characters running around like headless chicken and I don't like that.

In regard to the "evil faction", I believe at least 2 of them were ate by the tree monster but not sure on the guy in blue because he fell into the oil looking substance. I am however holding out hope his finally dead because his antics was putting the group in danger due to his self centeredness.

you could try looking at the wiki/fandom page for some spoilers. Personally, I don't mind the pacing of this series because it reminds me of an anime called btoom, in regards to the pacing and the way the story was drafted. However, I have seen a few people complaining about it so you're not the only one who feels like that.

One complaint stood out to me because they have either not watched many donghua's or they lead a rather repetitive lifestyle without trying anything new. Their complaint was on the fact that it wasnt a typical cultivation series and probably wanted the mc to start off with powers too instead of developing them through trials and tribulations.

I don't mind the format or the fact that the MC is a regular human at the moment.
What I like is world building and introducing some rules to the cultivation "game", but so far this show has been pure chaos without anything making sense or being explained. And MC throwing "I read it in the ancient text." while not being fazed by anything is starting to piss me off.
It's like this man has knowledge inside his brain but it's being unlocked only when the situation arises to suit the set pace of the show. You've either read the "ancient text" or not, so you better start putting the dots together my man, life's at stake.

I believe he does have locked previous knowledge of his past life too and will only see it when certain events or places are shown to him as we saw in this episode. In regard to his study of the ancient text, he must have felt a strong pull towards studying that which is why his so knowledgeable about it.
I do agree with you that very little is explained at the moment. What is explained is that they need to travel between worlds with the use of the coffin to return back to where they originally came from. That leaves a few questions... How long would it take? How many different worlds would they travel to? Would it still be the same world they came from or a parallel world? Eventually they will travel to a world with a civilization so they can find out more and we can get a deeper understanding of what exactly is happening but who knows how many episodes we'll have to sit through before that happens.

I would say this is still world building, except that we're as confused as the characters themselves, and learning at a relatively similar pace.

Don't forget, you normally have the "omniscient perspective of the reader/watcher", so you're used to perceiving things like some omni-present God who sees all perspectives to a story.

However, what this series does is take that away from you, and force you to be somewhat as helpless as the characters themselves. Fortunately, we're in computer chairs or w/e, and they're the ones actually surviving. So, enjoy the ride! Try not to worry too much about what you don't know yet.

I feel they're heavily implying the MC is a reincarnation, or something, of that female cultivator's brother from the beginning. I feel he's the missing link of this puzzle, and this could all possibly be set up as a means to provide trials/tribulations for him and start his path of cultivation.

Serves them right, imagine in such a nightmarish situation and the guy that allow you to survive up to now and you want to get rid of him him because of selfish entitled BS, would that decrease your survival rate and you die anyway so stupid

I'm just annoyed that no one ever apologizes when they do the MC wrong. At some point if everyone is against me and accusing me of things I didn't do, my selflessness will vanish and I will go my own way. :D

Honestly, the pacing is fine and having the audience be as clueless as the characters on the world building is nice for a change instead of having a narrator just tell you everything and ruin the intrigue.

That attempted murder was just pathetic. If you're going to push someone don't do a war cry and let the guy know before you do it.
At least, he'll be gone for a way; I have no doubt he'll return changed and blame MC for not saving him (just my prediction)
